STEVEN GRAHL's musical career began as a chorister at Derby Cathedral, where he was later sixth-form Organ Scholar. He is most grateful for the musical training he received from Peter Gould and Tom Corfield, as well as his parents' infinite support and patience. Following a formative gap-year scholarship at Norwich Cathedral working with David Dunnett and Katherine Dienes-Williams, he won the Organ Scholarship to Magdalen College, Oxford, studying for a degree in music and playing for the daily chapel services. He benefited greatly from Bill Ives' expertise and from the Chapel environment fostered by Revd. Dr Michael Piret.

Steven graduated in 2001, winning the Betts prize for further study, and took up a Scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. He was appointed Assistant Organist at St Marylebone Parish Church in March 2001, and was subsequently made Director of Music in December of the same year at the age of 22. Steven gained the FRCO diploma, winning the Limpus and Dixon prizes early in 2002 and having won all of the available organ prizes, he graduated with distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in 2003. He was made an Associate of the Academy on 2010.

Steven has held posts at the London Oratory School, King's College School Wimbledon, and in the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music. He worked closely with Prof. Edward Higginbottom as Assistant Organist of New College Oxford between 2007 and 2014, and was also Organist & Director of Music at St Marylebone Parish Church from 2001 until 2014. He spent eleven fulfilling years as Director of the Guildford Chamber Choir, and has held been a Junior Fellow in Choral Direction at Birmingham Conservatoire. He is currently Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral, Conductor of Schola Cantorum of Oxford, Director of Peterborough Choral Society, and Conductor of the Stamford Chamber Orchestra.
